    Mr Sixth Fix
Am about to install new condenser fan motor. Does 3 wire draw least amps?
I just bought a new multi-horsepower condenser fan motor 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 hp. To replace a 1/5 horsepower 1.6 amp motor I neglected to oil. The neglected motor used a 3 wire hook-up and the new motor can be hooked-up with either a 3 or 4 wire configuration. The new motor RPM is written "1075/2". Does this means it has 2 speeds or it can do 1075 rpms 2 ways at 4 different horse powers(i.e. 3 or 4 wires)? In the 3 wire hook-up the brwn/wht wire is not used, the black or the red is used as line voltage with the what. And the brwn to the capasitor. In the 4 wire hook-up the brwn/wht and brwn go to the capasitor, the black or red are line voltage with the what. In either configuration the red wire uses the least amps. ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS which wire configuration uses the lowest amps. The 3 or 4 wire hook-up?
