I've had problems with the kitchen sink for a while now, had to tape the pipes because there's a loose fitting. Recently there's been a puddle in the cupboard under the sink, but I can't figure out where it's coming from, I've wiped the pipes down, and they're fine, also the puddle isn't even under them, it's under the main bowl of the sink. Any ideas?

Leaks often occur in the plumbing underneath your kitchen sink and they can unfortunately go undetected for a large amount of time. If you feel confident enough in your plumbing abilities to tackle these problems, go ahead. And if you do not feel confident enough to fix these issues on your own, call your local plumber.

Dry the waste pipe and the strainer assembly down with paper towels and then fill your sink to the rim with water. Let that water sit for 5 minutes and use a flashlight to inspect the strainer body under the sink. If water leaks from the strainer body under the sink while the water is being held up in the sink then the issue will be the strainer itself. Next, if that didn't show the leak, let the sink drain completely, again, using the flashlight to watch the drain pipe as it comes out of the sink and goes into larger pipes. I suspect that you will find the leak in this way if the drain pipe(s) is leaking.

If that didn't reveal a leak, then you would let water run from the spout and carefully inspect the connection and the spray hose (if present). Using a flashlight, you should find the leak and can then determine your next plan of action here!!

Suggestion:
After drying everything thoroughly, lay some paper towels on the cabinet floor. Even one drop of water will show up in the paper towel.

Haha yes, I do mean flashlight. I tried doing the sink full of water, and it's all bone dry. I'll get some paper towels at the shop later and try that too ><
