I put the DVD in and it recognises it, as I can hear it spinning, it used to just play automatically but as this didn't work I tried to do it manually and the 'Source' button on the remote doesn't work either... Any ideas??

Are you talking about the source button for the DVD? The source button for the DVD is for selecting a component that is connected to the DVD input. Is the TV INPUT set (source selection for the TV) to receive Video or other similarly labeled input, depending on how you hooked DVD to TV? The fact that you hear the DVD spinning means nothing as regards recognizing.

Try pressing the TV, or Cable mode button on your remote, then go to source. (These are at the top on my remote which is from the cable company, but the mode buttons are usually at the top of most remotes).

The source button on the remote doesn't work. I am unsure why, totally useless with this kind of thing! It has worked in the past but all of a sudden has stopped working...
