Hi! New here, I recently went through some things with my now ex. I had an injunction taken out, filed charges to be picked up by the state, etc. We have talked over the phone, just tonight, and want to stop going after each other, we agree that it is over completely, but I am pregnant and don't need to be stressed, and he could possibly lose his job if the charges get pressed. I am not sure how this works, but is there any way I could drop the charges and the injunction?

I don't know what to tell you. If he beat you up, he's going to do it again. You have somebody else to worry about now, too. I know, you believe his crap.

You started down a road that's going to be awfully hard to change. If the prosecutor thinks he can get a conviction, then he's going to try. When you say "injunction", do mean restraining order? If so, that's civil, and you can go back to the court that issued it and ask for it to be rescinded.

I don't know the guy, but I don't like him. I think you should throw him to the curb!

Yes, if you have a order of protection that is easy, just go down and drop it. But remember of course he is telling you what you want to hear now, since he "wants something" and if he was mean and abusive before he still is, he is just getting you to let him do it again, This is trained behavior and a sad thing as a police officer we used to see week in and week out. An abused lady calls the police and we arrest them, they come down in two days and spend their rent money to bail him out, take him home and he beats her again next week, and we are at their house again and again.

Well a few years ago most states changed their laws, that if and when a police officer response and they see signs of abuse they have to arrest or do about a pile of paper work to say why they did not.

Then after the charges are filed, the person who was abused can't drop the charges thierself, only the DA can do that. So at this point and time if criminal charges are filed it is not up to you ( and thank God it is not, since if he did it, he needs to be tried for it, so maybe next time he will thnk twice) So what your mistake is, was talking to him in the first place, change your phone number drop this loser out of your life, go to court and testify the truth, ( so what stress) the stress is what HE is causing you by most likely his threats and/or lies.

Thanks, I see where all of you are coming from. I guess I just have to decide. He has said if I try anything, since I even called him that they would probably drop the injunction, or restraining order, so there isn't much I can do there.
