It seems that everyone I know has problems with laminate flooring separating, including myself. I have a dehumidifier in the basement and foam under the laminate, and have even tried using wood glue on the ends of separated pcs. When putting them back together again. Nothing works... they just separate again. As much as I would love to just tear it all out, I have too much invested in the laminate as it's installed in every room in the house, & top quality. I have tho't of using wooden pegs to nail down the laminate so that it won't separate anymore. I am sick of taking the floors apart, which includes removing baseboards etc. What do you think would happen if I did that? Anyone every try anything like it?

First, how are you defining laminate? Laminate is fake layers, as opposed to engineered, which is real wood layers. Second it should be put down over a very smooth floor, regardless of the foam/plastic barrier (you mention foam but not plastic)? Third, older houses, maybe 40+ old, don't have any vapor barrier under the concrete, and moisture works it's way up like a sponge, and the heavy mil plastic on top can't have a single hole or cut in it. Fourth, flooring comes in various thicknesses, and you really need the thickest one available. Fifth, is it just click, or glue on the tongue/grooves?

Basements are a real issue with laminate. Even with a dehumidifier, you may have excessive water levels at the floor level. Answer joypulv's questions and we will see if we can help.
