You will need to take it to a book collector/appraiser. Only someone who can authenticate the author's signature and evaluate the condition of the book will be able to give you an accurate appraisal of its value.

Books lose value very quickly (even those that are first editions and signed by the author) if they show a lot wear and tear. Also some authors are more collectable than others. This is why you need to contact someone who actually deals in collectable/'old' books.
