How to build my all wood house on stilts?
How many posts need to be used for a house that is 32x28 with a loft 12'x32 on one side? The posts will be under water 3-4months of the year.

    Hi Teresa

I don't care what anyone tells you online, but that question MUST be directed to a local architect or your local building department as each state/town/city, etc., will have a different answer! Even if 3 engineers here had all the needed information and calculated the proper number of columns, you could still walk into your local building department and get another answer from the inspector! Guess who wins...probably the inspector, right?

Anyway, this is meant to save you hassles later. Call your local building authority and ask them!!

    Good luck!

That is a major engineering decision. Weight and bearing capability of the soil needs to be determined. Most likely you would need power driven poles.
