A friend loaned me 3000.00 I've benn paying it back slowly over 3 years. During this time they were not reachable for 8 months and after surfacing they wanted it all.They took me to court and sued me the court date is March 2014. If I don't go what happens next due I have time to pay still, will my wages be garnished if so how nmuch. I have no assests

What is the written pay back agreement, when they were not available for 8 months, did you put their payment into savings, to give them the 8 months of payments ?

Did your friend agree that you could pay it back over time? Have you been following the agreed-upon re-payment schedule? If so, they are not entitled to sue you.

In any event, you should go to the court date. Explain to the judge your version of the loan, and bring with you any loan documents that may exist. If a judgment is entered against you, Yes, your wages can be garnished (if over the garnishment exemption formula) in most states.

Never ignore a court date. If you do, they will win by default and be awarded whatever your friend says you owe. Once they have a judgment, they can garnish your wages, attach your bank account etc.

You should at least show up to show what you have paid. Did you sign any note or is there any other agreement to pay?
