You don't take turns paying for your car, but you want to take turns buying dinner? You have me confused about that kind of trade off. After he pays for your car he may not have any money for dinner.

I agree with Talaniman, paying for your car is a significant expense compared to dinner.

Have you talked to him? Maybe look at ways of doing things that cost little to no money. Some examples are: take turns cooking a special meal, visit a museum, volunteer at a cause you both support, walk in a park, watch movies at home, take public transportation when you go out. I agree him paying for a car is a big expense and maybe it is just not in his budget to spring for meals out and parking and that is why communication is needed.

He wanted you to have the car true, but it was your choice to take it.

I agree with all of the above.

My husband works and pays all bills because he is the main bread winner. The money I make is for our fun outtings.

How often do you go out? If it is every night then requesting to stay home for dinner should be no big deal.

Can I ask how you pay for dinner if you do not work?
