    I live in Texas.Is there a legal form for relinkquishing fatthers rights and child support?

    Yes there is. But you need to contact an attorney to do it legally. If this is something you are seriously considering you should find a lawyer to make sure it is done right. And if it is about the other party relinquishing the rights, they can. However please consider it well before you do it, once it is done you can not change it.

    The only way you can have the father give away his rights ( and not have to pay child support) is when the mother has a new partner and that partner wants to adopt. So he can give up his rights and obligations to a new step parent wanting to adopt.

    If this is not the situation, the only rights he can give up is that of visitation, partial or joint custody and other rights involving having a say about the child's welfare. He CAN NOT give up his obligatoins to pay child support and perhaps furnish health insurance.

    If it was as easy to to merely give it up, do you think men esp in tX would be sitting in jail for failure to pay their support?

    Reading the posters name -- not sure if this is a she wanting ex to give up right or a he that wants to give up rights thinking he can get out of child support. -- me thinks we need more info -- Savage
