My father is verbally abusive to my mother. For any small reason, he'll pick up fights, and then abuse for nearly two hours everyday. Sometimes he gets violent and locks my mother out of the house and even becomes physically violent. Is there any law for this so that I can make a police complaint.

Have you called the police when he is physically violent? What is your age?

Yes there are laws about this. You can call the police when he's being violent towards her. Once they're there, she has the right to file charges against him for domestic violence. But, if she chooses not to file charges, there's very little you can do unless he's also being violent towards you.

It will depend on where he lives, in some cultures men have the right to hit or abuse their wife. Wife's are taught, that they deserve it.

So why has your mother not left and moved somewhere else ?
