    Listeria in pregnancy
I am one month pregnant and had read something saying all pasteurized cheese is safe to eat. In the past three days I've eaten about $9.00 worth of Brie cheese. Now I read that it is actually one of the worst things you can eat while pregnant. Should I contact my doctor? I have had a runny nose and sore throat, headache and slight fever since yesterday.

    Hi YarrowFlower,

For the peace of mind, contact your doctor. However, while it is possible, it is unlikely that you have listeriosis (generally it takes a bit longer for possible symptoms to appear as well).

Your doctor may or may not be fine with you eating pasteurized Brie, as they will vary in their opinions on it, but certainly if you would rather not have the worry, then forgo the Brie until after baby is born.

Again, I would give them a call. It will be well worth it to ease your concern... and that is part of their job!
