    State tax
    Hi,

I am currently working in Florida which has no state tax . But my employer generated my paycheque based on NJ . And he is now generating the paycheque based on Texas . He is doing so because he is having offices only in those two places and he said he couldn't generate it from Florida .

    My questions .

    1. Since I worked in FL and not NJ , can I get the whole amount that is deducted as NJ statetax .
    2. Will there be any problem for me in future (greeencard etc) if the paycheque is generated with a different state on it from other than where I am actually working ?

    Please let me know these...

    Thanks

    1) Yes, you can file a NJ tax return and get ALL of your withheld taxes back. NJ has NO CLAIM on your Florida-based income. Tell your employer to STOP withholding taxes.

    2) No.
