I understand that films sometimes need CGI, either to extend a set or to create something without the expensive use of practical effects/make up. Do you prefer films like Pacific Rim?

CGI when used correctly is awesome. But for some film makers it is overused. Star Wars was one of the first to have a character based on CGI thoughout the film as a main character. Then came jurassic park. With those in the bag Hollywood had new tools to entertain you with and could avoid the added expense.

There are very few films that the CGI is used well as far as I'm concerned. My favorite one was Sin City...all digital. It was an artistic feel and it was done well. Everything else, it seems fake. It's used too much and when it isn't done well, it takes me right out of the film.

Pacific Rim was a dog, in my opinion, and the cgi had little to do with that, but did not help it at all.

But plot lines and characters make the movies
