    White/green fuzz
Ive just had my tonsils taken out (Thursday) and I am in pain far beyond what I had imagined. The back of my throat looks like raw meat and is covered in white/green fuzz that looks like mold. All I have been given is pain killers that are not srong enough. Is this normal?

You should have been given more than painkillers hun. But sometimes Antibiotics will not stop tonsilitis in its track, especially if its viral. If you have bacterial tonsilitis then Antibiotics will help.

The white fuzz on the back of your throat is classic with Tonsilitis. Unfortunately Tonsilitis can stick around for 3 weeks until its completely cleared up. You need to gargle every 1-2 hours (or more if required) with salt water & this will help ease your throat. I would also recommend that you see your Doctor again & ask for some Antibiotics & also consider a culture of your throat being performed. This way you'll know exactly what you're dealing with & what's the best Antibiotics for the job. Hope your better soon x

I think your confused. I don't have tonsilitis because I have no tonsils. I am recovering from the operation where I had them removed because I kept getting tonsilitis.

I was ill for 4 weeks after having mine out with symptums of having tonsilitis and I will tell you now just because you don't have tonsils doesn't mean you will no longer suffer even 13 years on I still get sore throats and the white puss on the back of my throat its just not as bad as it was before I had them out.
If you can id make an appointment with your dr keep taking the pain killers I found soluble condene worked wonders.

Yes sorry I thought you said Tonsilitis. However as the previous poster said, you can still have symptoms of Tonsilitis & the white fuzz/mucus on the back of your throat is classic of this.

The "green" could signal infection, you need to contact your doctor ASAP.

I had my tonsils removed back in August and I had the same thing. The green and white fuzzy stuff. I think it is just the throat healing but it is moist so it looks funny. It is extremely painful. But Ibuprofen works wonders I know that sounds funny but it helped me a lot. Not a fun thing to experience but once your better and don't have sore throats any more (well not as bad of from before) It will be wonderful!! Hope this helps
