Chemical smell coming from well water
We have a well. Suddenly, the water in all sinks, showers, and toilets started giving off a chemical smell. To me it smells sort of like fiberglass resin or turpentine. Our local lab is closed for the holiday and won't be able to test it until next Monday. Until then, does anyone have any experience with this and know what it may be? Thank you.

    Hi Rarjr

If you really think you have an odd odor like that you may actually want to call a local fire department and give them an option to come over and see what they think...never know nowadays!

If you don't want to cause quite that much of a ruckus, then you're waiting until Monday...can't diagnose odor issues online...;)

What do other people in the house/family/friends think here??

Are you using a filter or softener? If so, try bypassing it and see if that helps. Kind of a long shot, but worth trying. Is your pump in the well or above ground?

Have you looked at both the well itself (the cover, ground around the area, etc), asked around the neighborhood and town offices, and looked at your water tank in the basement?
