Kudos for the guidance you have been providing so far.

I am on H1B visa since Jan 1, 2006. Before that I was in F1-OPT status. I am a resident of India originally. Should I file 1040NREZ, 8843 or 1040EZ? :confused:

I was in india for a short trip of 18-20 days during summer 2006. My marital status is single.

Also, My employer did not deduct my SS and Medicare taxes until late April. I informed them and then they deducted that amt from my following paycheck.

The trip to India did NOT affect your H-1B status.

The failure on your employer's part to properly withhold and pay FICA taxes is your employer's problem, NOT yours.

The IRS will hold the employer responsible, NOT you.
