Toilet sounds like a FOG-HORN
When I left my 2-story residence for a 10 day vacation, I shut my water off (leading into the house). NOTE: My daughter informs me that, when we were gone, she visited the house & attempted to flush the "DOWNSTAIRS TOILET" toilet while the water was still "SHUT-OFF".
When we returned home & turned the water back on, we had a big problem. EVERY time we flushed the "DOWNSTAIRS TOILET", the pipes seem to violently vibrate with a VERY LOUD FOG-HORN type sound. Without exception, this happens every time we flush the "DOWNSTAIRS TOILET". The vibration & the loud fog-horn sound always starts shortly AFTER the flushing (10-30 sec later).
NOTE: I've noticed that when I flush the "DOWNSTAIRS TOILET", I "can intervene" & prevent the violent vibration & Fog-Horn effect. I'm able to "STOP" the Fog-Horn by doing the following:
1) I flush the toilet
2) I wait until I hear the "start" of the fog-horn sound (10-30 sec later)
3) I immediately "SHUT-OFF" the water valve leading to the "DOWNSTAIRS TOILET" (located near
The floor at the bottom/behind the downstairs toilet)
Although, this seems to IMMEDIATELY STOP the vibrating Fog-Horn, it doesn't solve the problem. The problem resumes immediately after the next flush, if I don't turn the toilet water supply off, to intervene.
My home was built in 1995. Since then, I've replaced my "water pressure regulator" three (3)times (my neighbors have yet had to do so). Also, since living here, I've replaced ALL my Toilets with the more efficient type toilets.
I know very little (NOTHING) about plumbing. Nonetheless, I hope I provided enough information for someone to find a solution? Thus, any help would be most appreciated.
