2 ducks go swimming. One is larger than the other, and has a 0.9 chance of being shot by hunters.Smaller duck has 0.6 chance of being shot.
    Probability
    a.both ducks get shot? 0.75?
b.larger is shot but not the smaller?0.9?
    c.exactly one is shot? 0.75?
    d.neither duck is shot?0.25?

Sorry, but all your answers are incorrect. I'll help you with the first question, and hopefully you'll be able to do the others as well:

The probability of two independent events both occuring is equal to the probability of the first event occuring times the probability of the second event occuring. Here the probability of both ducks being shot equals the probability that the larger duck is shot (0.9) times the probability that the smaller duck is shot(0.6). Hence the probability that both are shot is 0.9 x 0.6 = 0.54.

For each of the other problems you need to think about what two probabilities are in play - for example for the second question you have the probability that the larger is shot (0.9) times the probability that the smaller is not shot, which is one minus the probability that he is shot, or 1-0.6 = 0.4. For problem c if only one duck is shot that means that either (1) the larger is shot but the smaller isn't or (2) the larger is not shot but the smaller is, so for this you need to add together the probabilties of these two possible scenarios.

Hope this helps. Post back with your next attemp and we'll check it for you.
