How to power a new light and switch
OK all, hope you can help.

I'm updating a house to move into. I'm knocking out a wall and building a walk in closet. I need to install a basic track light in the closet and run a switch to it. Is it possible to tap into a nearby outlet to get my hot to the switch and then from the switch to the light source? Any other options would be appreciated.

Yes, you can run a cable from the outlet to the switch and a cable from the switch to the light fixture.

You could also run a cable from the outlet to the light fixture and then run a cable from the light fixture to the switch for a switch loop.

    Which ever is easier.
