Once you are served by the court, you will be given a court date, ( in within about a week or less of being served) The days you are given at court can vary, here 3 days is not uncommom. So once served they will be there to move you to the curb within normally about 10 days or less.

Legal processes (especially for civil cases) vary from state to state. Here's how it works in California:

1.Plaintiff files Summons and Complaint in Superior Court ('cause you're dealing with someone's shelter)

    2. Summons and Complaint are "served" on Defendant (this must happen to establish jurisdiction by the court)

    3. Defendant has 5-10 days to file a response to the complaint

    4. Plaintiff files a "memorandum to set for trial" if defendant responds and court date is set by court clerk

    5. Court hearing occurs

    6. If the Plaintiff wins a judgement in their favor... they take the judgement to the Sheriff's office and files a request for sheriff's eviction (if the Defendant hasn't already left)

    7. 1-2 weeks later (depending on their work load) they post a notice of eviction at the property and within 5 days... they will enforce the judgement. To the curb... Landlord installs new locks at the same time.
