How could you possibly trust your TF in a drive through car wash. Other than being a sacrilege you should zero in on the Lucas distributor. Please hand wash!!

I am not a pro at it but I think I can help you. It is definitely the starter that is creating the problem. If not the starter then may be the ignition switch has some issues. Go get it checked before its too late. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Stellawinslet-British cars of this vintage are notorious for ignition issues with Lucas systems. I know, I have had TD's, TR's and the like. This car is 60 years old.
