I have a 3 yr old English Setter male. I adopted him a year ago. I have a doggie door and two other dogs. When he moved in he learned the dog door right away and had only one accident indoors. Now in the past few weeks he has started peeing indoors. I'm on vacation this week so am here to go out with them often, but that hasn't seemed to stop the behavior either. I've spritzed the areas where he has gone with vinegar water then cleaned it with baking soda an a mixture of dish washing liquid and H2O2, but he just pees somewhere new. I haven't caught him in the act yet. Any ideas why this is suddenly happening? There haven't been any changes to the household. And any ideas on what I can do to stop the behavior? Thanks

One change is that you are on vacation this week and are home more. Did the peeing start since you've been home? ***ADDED I reread your post and see that the peeing started a bit earlier, before your vacation -- so no changes at all? Has the schedule changed for the dog since your vacation started? (different feeding times or walking times or activity times? -- my cats don't handle even minor changes well)

Maybe time for a vet check for a uti or some other urinary problem?

Thank for the response. The behavior change started well before vacation. He is neutered. He has had a regular check with the vet and is in great health. I keep them on the same schedule as much as possible. There have been no household changes since he moved in 13 months ago.

Since I am a cat person, I can't think of anything more to ask or suggest. BUT we have a group of fantastic dog experts on this site, so sit tight. They come here now and then during the day and will give you some thoughtful responses. Oh, how about food or water changes or he's drinking more or weather changes?

He has been on the same food for the past 11 months, I have not seen a change in the amount of water intake recently. The weather has just now started to cool down for winter here, after his issue started. :) by the time everyone else signs on you will have gotten the answers to all the necessary questions. I have tried to cover all my bases and done some research but so far no luck. Am hoping to get to the bottom of issue and started on a remedy before vacation ends.

Thanks for your cooperation in answering all my questions. (It doesn't take much to rock my cats' boat, so am guessing it's the same with dogs.) The dog experts will probably think of additional and more specific questions. Stay tuned!

Has he had a vet visit to check for an infection? With a dog that was trained and now going on the house that is the first thought that came to mind.
