I have been a tenant staying with my sister without her landlord knowing.
I was asked by my sister to move in over a year ago to help her out around the house. I was paying her $125 a week and doing 1/2 of the groceries as well. She sent me a text advising me of a 30 day notice. What are my rights in this situation? I get mail there, I keep a slip from DMV for my change of address and I have furniture / other belongings there.

By the way this is in Virginia.

You have the right to proper notice. Apparently she is giving you your rights. Though it might be better if it was in writing instead of a text.

What makes you think you have any more right than that.

Is your sister being evicted also? Or just you?
