I have an outdoor tap that has started to rotate at the wall where the pipe comes out as there is nothing fixing the tap to the wall.

Is there a bracket or some other way to support the tap so that the pipe doesn't rotate in the wall?

I have a picture of the tap, but can't post it on here.

Could be a Shark or Gatorbite fitting that had been installed? They can rotate unless the tubing is fixed to the wall.

Would I need to remove the concrete around the pipe, re-install the fitting, then put the concrete back in place?

Thanks for the info on how to post the image Milo.

As you can see, there is just a pipe sticking out of the wall, with nothing visible fixing it to the wall.

It is a slab house, so I can't access it from below.

(Ps. The white on the wall is paint from brushes we have been cleaning as we have been painting).

I was hoping not to pull apart the wall, but attach something to the outside to stop it moving (although this might not be possible). Any ideas?

Get as piece of 1/2" copper pipe.
Cut down the center length wise about 1".
Cut off the end giving you two curved wedges.
Flatten wedges slightly.
Drive a wedge in between the pipe and the mortar.

The only way it is rotating without leaking is by a fitting. The only ones I know that could rotate are those in my original post. Without taking the wall open, I would try some JB Weld, landscape block adhesive or pack in some hydraulic cement.

Is this rotation in only one direction or can the spout practically swivel left and right?

How many times have you rotated the outdoor tap back to straight?

Hi Mark,

It rotates about 45 degrees to the left. It doesn't rotate to the right once it is back in the correct position.

We moved in recently, so I have not done it many times, but I assume that it was like this before we moved in so I'm not sure how long it has been like this.

What happens if you turn the bib counter clockwise does it turns more than 45 Degrees, if it does I thing that you may have a short nipple between the bib and inside the wall, if that is the case would suggest to shut the water to house remove the hose bib with the nipple use some Teflon tap and install see what happens, good luck.
