A cleaner corroded the chrome off the new circle of chrome (nickel plated) at the bottom of the bathroom sink. Can we recoat with paint?

You can but will probably be repainting again and again. Why not replace the pop up?

If this is new, why not simply contact the manufacturer of the pop up and have them send you a new one under warranty... no cleaner should hurt the finish to a pop-up drain so quickly... ;)

Just tell them the finish is worn away and they should send a new one, including shipping, for free!
