How to make parents agree for love marriage
    Hi,
I am going through a very tough time in my life. I love some one. Since we are relatives, our parents are not agreeing for our marriage. They are saying that marriage in relation will cause health problems for next generations. But that won't happen all the time right. And he not my close relative also. Still they are saying no for this relation. Can some one suggest a way through..

annmarry, do you mind giving a bit more background about your family traditions and culture? If you are not close relatives, how far apart are you? Is this your parents' only objection?

We belong to south India Christian family. We are first cousins once removed, i.e. he is my mother's cousin. Everything else is fine, except that we are relatives. And hence both families are not accepting it whole heatedly.

Can you explain please? If you read other post her about convincing parent for a love marriage you will find there are very few solutions to change a parents mind. Even across cultures its difficult to change the minds of elders period.

Often it comes down to either put up with the drama and consequences of doing what you think is best for you, or listen and follow what the parents want you to do. Often even with the support of family and community, its almost impossible to change a parents heart,or even soften it when they are dead set against it. You have both his, and your parents to convince, and that makes it extra hard.

It's a difficult decision either way. Most Christians frown on marrying such close blood relatives.
