Two women from England plan a holiday to Italy. Later the husbands join them and everyone's life becomes better, more lighthearted. There's a rude old woman who rents the villa with the women, walks with a cane. At the end of the film she leaves the cane behind. Everyone is changed by the experience in Italy.
