    My dog intermittently limps
We have a 7 year old cockapoo who has suddenly started intermittently limping. Not always on the same leg. Sometimes she will not bear weight on her leg, other times she simply limps ( or favors) one of her legs. Is she too old to develop pano? What else might it be?

As with any symptoms in a pet (or a person) there could be a lot of reasons for his limping. As he is 7 years old there is always the possibility of arthritis. His limbs could fall asleep if he rests in one position too long. I would take him to the vet for a thorough physical examination. A good vet can pick up abnormalities in the joints quite easily and feel for cysts or tumours as well. He may need a bit of glucosamine added to his diet. Definitely talk to the vet.

Yes check with the vet. If it is arthritis, the vet can prescribe more effective things than we could suggest. I think 7 years is way to old for pano, but seems a little young for arthritis. The vet will know.

Sounds like a luxating patella-kneecap goes in and out of place. Usually, this will occur when they are running and you'll see them give a little yelp and hold the leg up. A simple exam will quickly diagnose it-the vet can actually pop in and out! Rest and anti inflammatories are prescribed, then there is a possible surgery that can correct it for good. Good luck!
