How do you stop squeking belts
On a 2002 Mazda Protégé the drive belts squalling especially when it is cold. I have checked tension, seems to be good but still squeal. Any suggestions the belts are only a year old and should not be squealing.
    Thank you

Any type of oil or antifreeze spill will make them squeal.

Could the noise be coming from the tensioner pulley? It's advisable to replace the pulley when the belt is changed, usually around 80,000 miles. It's easy to press out and press in a new "6203" bearing for under $4.

Some aftermarket belts are prone to squealing--I stick with OEM or Dayco.
