My boyfriend was recenlty arrested for probation violation on a felony but he has been off probation for over a year now could this be because he has not paid on his restitution

It could be because he was never released from probation,
It could be because he did a violation prior to getting off and there has been a warrant for some time.
It can be many things. His lawyer needs to find out what
