How long will ít take to get pregnant after depo shot?
I got my first and only depo shot in April 2013 . Had a dark brown like old blood discharge for a month, the month before I was due for my second shot. I did not get the My second shot & did not get a period till october23,2013~october30,2013. So I just wanted to know can I get pregnant or do I have to wait a year till the depo is out of my system?

It can take upwards of TWO years for the effects of depo to fully work through your system.

In the end, all said and done, you can get pregnant. Depo, while effective, don't have a permanent effect of your reproductive system.

It does have a powerful effect so the question we are trying to answer for you is when. You can get pregnant but you probably won't get pregnant right away. Your body needs to get rid of the resdidual amounts of the hormone and use it's own hormone in place. You've gotten a period, so that's a good sign of the resumption of your self-regulated cycle.

What you need to contend with now is the regular delays/missed shots that are common with getting pregnant. For example an perfectly fertile couple might take upwards of a year to get pregnant while a couple that has low sperm count and random periods could get it on the first shot. No pun.

So in a round about answer, yes you can get pregnant but you won't get pregnant right away. Your body is still dealing with its own issues. Give it time.

Can't say a date. Depo is notorious for inhibiting conception after you quit using it.

There is no way to know how long the depo shot will take to get out of your system. Some women get pregnant on depo, while others take upwards of a year or more to get pregnant.

Continue to try, but don't get disheartened if it doesn't work right away. Just know that depo doesn't cause permanent infertility. I tell all of my patients that they should not be worried if they are not pregnant within 18 months after stopping depo.
