Hi,

I am 13 weeks pregnant and a day ago I started spotting and passing small blood clots the biggest so far is about the size of a pea. My doctor is out of town and I am wondering if I should just go to the hospital. The blood is only there if I urinate and when I wipe. I've been told that this could be normal, but this is the second day already and I am still passing small blood specs when I urinate. The strange thing is that it goes on and off during the day like one point of the day there would be blood and specs of blood clots then it'd go away and come back.
The color of the blood is dark red and once or twice I had a mucus dark brown discharge.

Should I go to the ER or wait until I see my doctor next week?

Any time you're bleeding while pregnant you should go see your doctor. Since your doctor is out of town I would head down to the hospital, usually if you go to the maternity ward they'll do triage there and you don't have to wait through the ER.
