    Can your parole officer get a detainer lifted while still in federal prison,ny
    My grandson is in federal prison,but the state has him on parole with a detainer. Can his perole officer lift the detainer so he can go to a halfway house

    Excon, perhaps you understand the question better than I, but it appears that OP is asking if a state parole officer allow a federal prisoner to go to a halfway house. The PO could ask, but I don't see how the PO could order it. What am I missing.

    Hello Lawyer:

    Without a state detainer, a federal prisoner WILL get some halfway house time. With one, he'll be held til the end of his sentence and then turned over to the state.
