Our basement toilet stool makes an air sound every 2 - 3 minutes. There is no bubbling, clanging, etc. just the whoosh of air. Can you tell me what is causing this?

Hi Darlene
It may sound like air, but more likely here is that the FILL VALVE of the toilet is refilling the toilet tank with water periodically due to a faulty FLAPPER.
To test this, you could put some food coloring in the tank and see if it shows up in the toilet bowl after a few minutes... or you could just lift the toilet tank lid and watch the water in the tank drop about an inch or so in between the "air" sounds... ;)
The repair to this would be to get an exact flapper replacement if possible... easy to swap out. An exact replacement flapper will probably only be found online or at a local plumbing supply store.
Back to you...
