Does he have it? No idea, you'll need a proper diagnosis, but there is nothing to say that he couldn't have it.

Anyone can get tinnitus... and there are a number of things that can cause it. I would suggest he be seen by a specialist to be diagnosed in case its one of the causes that can be treated.

I myself suffer from it... as the result of a single event of an extremely loud noise in my teenage years.. Which is one of the things that can't be treated to correct.
