Hi. I have a tub faucet handle that only turns halfway: 3 o'clock is the off position and only turns counter clockwise 90 degrees to the 12 o'clock position, although hot is at 9 o'clock. I've taken the handle off to try and adjust the 'stop' position but am unclear on how to proceed. There is a small white plastic 'stop' on the left of the stem that is controlling the movement of the handle.

While I am not familiar with that exact brand and model faucet... what that plastic stop you see does is an antiscauld function... by limiting your ability to accidentally move it to the full hot position such as during a slip or fall...

Its adjustible to limit the maximum temprature of the water to a safe level... which will be set differntly based on the temperature of your hot water... and the temprature of your cold water.

It might be set too far in the cold position as a baseline you have to move it from.

In a shower you do not want it to be able to go 100% hot for safety reasons.

Perhaps one of the other experts here will be more familiar with that specific one that can tell you how its adjusted.

Thanks. Does anyone know how to adjust the small white plastic stop? This faucet isn't like the newer ones with simple temperature limit stops.

Since nobody else has answered yet... I'll take a stab at it.

You didn't say But I'm guessing this is the type you turn left or right for hot and cold... but pull it towards you to turn the water on or off.

If that's the case... look at the brass piece with the two ears. I'm guessing its on a splined shaft you can reposition that more toward the hot or the cold... such that it doesn't get too uncomfortably hot for safety reasons.. I'm also making a guess that its in the full cold position now. If my previous guesses are correct... you would turn it further left... and reposition the brass piece where it would hit the left stop at the point the water would be the most comfortably hot... the stop being there to prevent it from going full hot.

But because of the off I see on the base plate I'm guessing thats really not the case.

If that brass piece is on a spllnned shaft...that is the key to adjusting this.

Thanks. The handle doesn't pull out at all, it only moves right/left for off/on. Off = 3 o'clock, full-on = 12 o'clock. Ie, the handle only moves 90 degrees until it hits the stop. Does that help?

Yeah... clarifies that a tad.

Does that brass piece on the shaft fit into splines? I'm guessing from the picture that's the part that adjusts rather than the plastic stop.

If that's the case try indexing it more clockwise on the shaft and see if that changes anything... again, this is far different than the Delta that I have in one of my bathrooms so I'm making guesses based on what I see in the picture

Is this new and do you still have the box... or know the model number? If so we could look up the information on the delta website.

Not new, and no don't have the box. It's actually not my house, was trying to help a lady in my neighborhood.

Take the screw out and post another picture... thinkin' Smoothy is pretty close here except I think the white stop part rotates. You may be able to reposition the white stop, but won't know until you pull that screw and investigate all parts as you disassemble... take pictures at each step for yourself and post any here if you can't figure it out at some point.
