What is the best way to test trigger a distant motion detector
Will a laser beam or a infrared beam trigger a motion sensor for testing purposes

How far away are we talking. I have an infrared for a game trail and it works to about 30 ft. However, in very cold weather, it drops since the heat is disapated.

The best way would be to stand in its line of sight and move. Keep moving further out until it stops triggering. Beams do not help you since you can be 100' away when you "beam" the detector but the beams itself is 0' away since it will hit the surface.
