The US has done it, we have done it what is the problem?

Not long ago Germany and Brazil got upset with the US now Indonesia is upset with Australia, Just what is the problem with spying?

Australia tried to tap Indonesian president's personal phone

Now Germany is a US ally a slightly closer relationship than Indonesia and Australia, but the reality is we need to know what these guys are thinking. Do I trust the Indonesians, reality is I don't, they marched into East Timor and West Papua; admittedly places that could offer token resistance, but they have a big population and, well who knows, finite resources and an immigration policy that is definitely not in our interests, so I don't trust them and nor should my government

Its all cHest beating and bloviating.

Everyone thats got the capacity to do it...does it. Thats how they know who they can trust and who they can't.

Well of course, all countries do information gathering by tapping the phones of the President, I'll bet BO has some interesting conversations

I don't think BO is smart enough to have interesting conversations... he preffer monologs... because I think he believes himself to be above and better than the average person. And its benieth him to accept advice or anything from anyone smarter than he on any given subject... ever notice how unqualified everyone he surrounds himself with is as opposed to previous presidents?

It is just so hard to get good help these days, what I find interesting is that these activities the Indonesians are upset about would have been done on Kevin Rudd's watch as Prime Minister, so no surprises there and apparently we were helping the americans spy on Indonesia, so guilty by association

This is what we get for having a media that is allowed to run off at the mouth, they have caused a number of difficulties in our relationship with Indonesia

Indonesia without any doubts does as much of it as they can afford or have the resources to do themselves...

Like the kid blaming his little brother for eating the chocolate cake mom just baked... when they themselves are the one that has chocolate icing all over their face and hands.

No, there is a wider agenda here, Australia is highly critical of Indonesia allowing people smugglers to use Indonesia as a base, of Indonesia allowing refugees to transit through Indonesia, of Indonesian nationals profiting from the sale of unseaworthy boats, of Indonesian police and military profiting from the trade, of Indonesian practices in Abattoirs, so now Indonesia has some dirt they can use as leverage, courtesy by the way of a certain US national named Snowden. This is just the latest round in the fall out from whistleblowing on survellience. This trade through Indonesia costs us $1.5 billion a year. The US has their ways and so do we

If you can arrange for Snowden to get gang raped by a crowd of burly Russian gay men... we would be eternally grateful.

Sorry don't know any Russians, gay or otherwise, can't you just send some american gays after all you have more than enough?

don't know if you have been following this but now spys and politicians are expected to have a code of ethics, never been found to be binding yet

all I can say is this is another fine mess you have gotten us into, this is linked to the allegations we were spying for the americans in Indonesia, we should take another page out of your pay book, its time for some gunboat diplomacy, a flyby in Jakata by some F18

This also includes Singapore and South Korea, I'm curious why are the americans, the worst violators of national soveriegnty, excluded?
