    Trap Question
I'm confused which doesn't take much. I looked under my sink and the pipe coming out of the back of my cabinet travels horizontally into a curve and then travels vertically up to the sink.

Is this the correct way it works?

I guess I just don't know the starting point as I'm looking at the pipe.

That is correct. That is a "P" trap. If it were an "S" trap the pipe would come out of the floor.

THe pipe starts at the sink, goes into a P trap and then continues into the wall.
The curved part holds water and "traps "sewer gas from entering the house.
