I have a bathroom sink in my house was leaking from a crack in the trap. I replaced the trap and tail piece, and now those leaks are gone. However, when the water is run for a long time (4-5 minutes) water comes out of the joint where the tail piece goes into the floor. I'm not sure what to do about that joint. Pipes are chrome.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Is there a chrome nut that can be tightened or does this tailpiece go into a leaded fitting? Let us know more, OK?

Hi again, Mike.

If the pipe in the floor is a silverfish pipe that has a lead ring around the pipe then you can go out and purchase some PLUMBERS EPOXY PUTTY and try to make a repair.

Here, clean the pipe areas well (sand chrome off the tailpiece), knead the two-part putty until uniform in color and then apply to the pipe and pipe joint. Use some water on your finger tips to smooth the finish for best results.

That should work...

Thanks - I'll give that a shot.

Suggest that you snake the line before sealing that joint. Obviously you have a partial blockage or the water wouldn't be backing up to leak at that joint.
