Quick question. Would its be weird to propose to my partner? We want to get married but he can't afford to buy me a ring and I personally don't care about that. It's the actual thought and him saying it. Every girl would love a sparkler on her finger but I don't need that right now. My parents never did that. My mumma has just her wedding band and that's all she ever got and she is happy as a peach. But would it be wrong for me to ask him? I just want him to know that I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him.

Sure, women these days propose to men. But if you think marriage will solve your problems, you are wrong. You have had problems with your boyfriend of all sorts, some of which you have brought up here over the last year or two. You complain about him a lot! And now there's the one of the suicidal sister.. now is not the time.

If he had not proposed because he can't afford to buy you a ring, what difference will your proposing to him make? This sounds like desperation to me.
You also have had a lot of problems with this guy. Why the hurry to marry?
