    Propane furnace ignitor issues
I have a miller propane furnace. Over the past yrs I've replaced the ignitor ever yr.. Due to condesation issues. I think its fixed now.. but I replaced the ignitor 2 days ago with a brand new one. I got the ignitor from re michels like all the rest. This time the ignitor wasn't wrapped in plastic but loose in the box surrounded by foam. I installed it.. worked for 1 day and burned up.. cracked in 5 places. I did clean the sensor but not with sandpaper... I bought a new ignitor making sure it was packaged right... installed it, checked to see if it turns off after ignition.. it does. So why does it keep going bad? Please help. I don't want to keep buying these things.. lol

If you have a separate flame sensor, I suggest switching to a silicon nitride ignitor. They are much tougher than the silicon carbide you are likely using. If this is a moblie or manufactured home furnace, I always use Miller original equipment ignitors. I don't know what the difference is but there is something. The OEM ignitors seem to hold up much better than the after market one.

I was told it is common to use this type of furnace in mobile homes but I have a small single family home. I did get a miller origanal ignitor this time.. just doesn't make sense why the last one burned up in one day.. thanks grady
