    Insinkerator Switch Button Problem
Hello. We own a Model 17 85A Insinkerator disposal. I understand how it functions. It is a batch feed with the on-off button in the drain. The button has quit working, although the switch is functional. I removed the box-shaped cover for the switch. I am totally puzzled as to how to remove the button. There is a small circlip around the button shaft, which I removed. That's where things stopped. The shaft comes through a circular piece of metal which appears to be sealed against water. There is a piece of plastic with a pointer set in the "9" position. The area is surrounded by a metal piece that looks like it could be removed, but I don't see how. The replacement kit button looks like it screws on. I can see no way to remove the old button. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

    Hi Ugadog

I believe you just squeeze the cover from side to side and it "pops" out... ;)

    Give that a shot...
