    Ceiling Fan Lights
The lights on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan quit working. When I took it apart, there was a small electronic gizmo wired in SERIES WITH THE LIGHTS.

(No, it has nothing to do with the motor circuit. The device is wired between the light switch and the light socket)

I removed and jumpered around the device, and the lights are working. My question is, what did I remove? Since I had the lights wired on a dimmer, could the reduced voltage have burned out the electronics?

The only thing I can think of is a thermal, but it doesn't look like any thermal device I have ever seen. I also see no reason to make a thermal that complicated.

Anyone run into this problem before?

Called a wattage governor. Supposedly something mandated by government. Google "wattage governor", fix for flickering light seems to be remove it.
