I have come into a large collection of 78 and 33 vinyl records. A wide variety of artists. Some records are mint and some have a few scratches. Some are in leather binder books. What is the best way to sell these other than on eBay?

A music store or consignment shop.
Selling on eBay is easy; it's shipping records that is hard.
But use eBay to see what's worth selling. I too had tons of them and most of them weren't worth 50 cents.

The public library has record price guides. The only problem with that is finding someone who will pay that price. And a consignment shop or used record shop will give you a low-ball figure and sell them for a much higher amount. Take a few records to a vintage/collectibles shop in your area to find out what they will pay you.

I'm selling old comics and Little Big books now. eBay seems the place to go, and yes, shipping, especially records, can be a problem.

I forgot to mention that even if a record is a rare and desirable one, selling is ALL about the condition of the jacket and vinyl.
You have to know how to describe every single little flaw, and how to rate the condition overall.
Collectors are absolutely obsessed over all that.
Woe to the seller who gets it wrong.
That's another reason not to sell online.

Thank you very much and for taking your time to answer this for me. I like the idea of a consignment store.

I asked a local antiques/collectibles shop about selling my grandmother's silver and some other heirlooms. They said I would get half of whatever they could sell anything for.

When I sold on consignment on eBay, I charged from 10% for a single item $1,000+ to 40% for an item in the $30 range. I wouldn't sell anything worth less than that; too much work for too little profit for either of us. That fee included all fees, except shipping.
