    Grass eating
    Good morning,
This morning my 6 yr old Cava-Poo, Lucie was so anxious to go out that I thought she may have had diarrhea. We raced out of the house to the park where she just wanted to eat grass. She kept searching for the grass she likes and ate that along with some other leafy plants. I read that there are several reasons dogs eat grass, including stomach problems, but this was unusual because she really needed to go out . She had a regular bowel movement. I feed her a mixture of dry and wet food, high-end dog food.
Any suggestions or ideas that you can help me with?
Thank you for your help. Andrea (NYC)

My dogs do that occasionally. My vet said to me a long time ago that eating grass helped settle the stomach. I'd keep an eye on her to make sure she's feeling all right.

I never worry when Brookie does that, I have many different varieties of grass In my garden, she always heads for the Japanese zebra grass. Grass to dogs is like a Tums to us, it doesn't mean there is any medical emergency. She is just soothing her digestive track. Maybe you should add some boiled, and cooled rice, to her dry food. Their dietary needs change much the way ours do. Could be she is having too much protein with the wet added. You do say the dry is a good brand, so read and see how much protein it carries.
