First time offense how much time please
My friend has been arrested for about a week. His court date is in one month. He was arrested for aggravated assault. He had a fight with his boss and the man pressed charges. He was pulled over for suspended tags and then the cops asked if he had anything in his car. He told them his gun was in there but he had no license to carry only a permit to have at home. He has no prior record and has never been arrested for anything at all. He said he was looking at time served but I don't know what that means and how can he have time served when he hasn't been in there that long? Also the gun was loaded. How much time could he get? The gun was not used in the assault charge with his boss and this happened in MD

    Hello lady:

There's no way to tell with the limited information you have. Why hasn't he made bail? It shouldn't be very high. If it is, that's a clue that the prosecutor thinks something BAD happened.

His bail is 125,000 but nobody has the money to get him out so he will be there until his court date is over

In Maryland, unless he has a carry permit issued by the state, he is facing at least 30 days in jail for carrying the gun loaded, in his car.

From the second half if your sentence, I gather that you actually do know what it means. It would mean the time between when he was arrested and the date of sentencing would be the jail time to which he would be sentenced.

    Hello Lady:

That's a high bail. He hurt his boss, didn't he? If so, he's looking at a bit more than time served.

Attempted murder? Who said anything about that? He didn't hurt his boss. It was a fist fight and his boss didn't like him so he pressed charges
