I am filing W7 for my wife with this year tax return (2007). It is mentioned in the w7 form to to send it the form to austin,TX along with my tax return to get the ITIN number. Do I also have to send the 1040 to the federal agency separately and the state tax to the local tax office separately or just sensing to that TX office will cover all that.

Attach the W-7 with a notarized photocopy of her passport to the Form 1040, then mail everything to the ITIN processing center in Austin, Texas.

Hold onto the state tax reurn until you get the ITIN from the IRS. If you are getting a refund from the state tax return, filing late will NOT be a problem.

If you owe the state money, file an extension and send a check with the extension for what you owe to avoid late filing penalties.
