There is a movie where a brother, sister and dad are surviving hardships and I believe the mom was killed or something. The dad ends up getting killed or the kids do and they end up getting a second chance. I remember the story taking place in the winter time and there is Christmas lights etc. this is a 80's movie and my memory of it is really fuzzy since I was so small but I remember it being depressing.
